Steps to Create an Account
You can create an account in under 3 minutes by following the steps below.
Step 1 — Go to claude.ai
Open https://claude.ai in your browser. Click the "Sign up" or "Start for free" button.
Step 2 — Choose a Sign-In Method
You can choose from the following 3 options. All offer the same features.
- Continue with Google — The easiest option if you already have a Gmail account
- Continue with Apple — Sign in with your Apple ID; you can also choose to hide your email
- Sign up with email — Enter any email address and receive a one-time code
Step 3 — Email Verification (for email sign-up)
A 6-digit one-time code will be sent to the email address you entered. Enter it within 5 minutes. If it expires, click "Resend code."
Step 4 — Agree to Terms of Service
A screen will appear asking you to agree to Anthropic's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Review them and click "Continue" to complete registration.
Free Plan vs. Pro Plan
Immediately after signing up, you will be on the Claude Free plan. You can use the Sonnet model within the daily usage limit. Once you reach the limit, you will not be able to use it further that day, but it resets the next day.
If you want more usage or access to more powerful features, you can upgrade to Claude Pro ($20 USD/month, before tax). Go to Settings (avatar icon in the upper right → "Settings" → "Plan") to choose between monthly or annual billing. More details are covered in Level 2 "Understanding Pricing Plans."
Setting Up Two-Factor Authentication
You can enable 2FA (two-factor authentication) from Settings → Security. A TOTP app such as Google Authenticator or Authy is recommended. If you use your account for work, be sure to set this up.
If You Forget How to Log In
If you signed in using Google or Apple, you can sign back in using the same social login. If you registered with email, you can reset access via "Forgot password?" (a one-time code will be sent to you).
